Baby sleep timer with fade-out — sounds that end gently instead of stopping

A sound that stops dead can wake the baby it just put to sleep. Little Napper's timer lowers the volume over the last minutes so the silence arrives unnoticed.

Why the fade-out matters

Babies cycle through light sleep every 45–60 minutes. A sound that cuts off in one of those windows is itself a change the baby notices — the same reflex that wakes them when a door slams. Fading the volume out over the final minutes (up to two, or half the timer for short timers) removes the step so there is nothing to notice.

Timer or all night?

For settling, a 15–30 minute timer is enough and gives the baby quiet, natural sleep for the rest of the night. For a light sleeper in a noisy flat, All night keeps the masking on until morning. The app remembers your default so it is one tap either way, and shows the wall-clock time the sound will end on the Now Playing screen.

FAQ

Sleep timer & fade-out: questions parents ask

How long does the fade-out last?

+

Up to two minutes at the end of the timer, or half the timer when the timer is shorter than four minutes. If you touch the volume during the fade, the fade is cancelled for that session.

Can the sound play all night?

+

Yes. Choose All night and the sound loops until you stop it. The phone stays awake enough to play with the screen off.

Does the timer work with my own recordings?

+

Yes. Recordings use the same timer and fade-out as the bundled sounds.
